BC Council on Substance Abuse Board of Directors
The BC Council on Substance Abuse is a non-profit organization that began in 1991 to provide workplace substance abuse training to companies, industries and individuals in order to provide a safe working environment. The Council was developed as a partnership project between the RCMP, CNC, the Forest Industry, Labour organizations and businesses in the BC Central Interior. The Council has evolved over the years and has changed names to reflect differing geographic service offerings. The current name, BCCSA reflects the provincial wide mandate of the organization and as such, offers courses throughout the entire province.
The Board of Directors are comprised of individuals from different areas of expertise including addictions, labour, industry partners, legal, business, employee and family assistance programs, and community representation. It is vital that the board is comprised of such a diverse group of people to reflect the changing needs within different workplaces around the issue of substance abuse. There are currently two openings available for the duration of the 2008/2009 year ending June 2009 for individuals interested in serving in an adivsory volunteer role with the council.
