BC COUNCIL ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE The BC Council on Substance Abuse is a non-profit organization with a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors representing diverse aspects of the workplace such as health, industry, labour, business, legal, social services, addictions, human resources, safety, employee and family assistance programs, and community. We work together with Industry, Labour, and Business to build workplaces that are safe, healthy, productive, and free from impairment by substance use. We provide customized training to supervisors and employees that educate and empower participants around the complex issues of impairment on the job. The BC Council on Substance Abuse has been providing education, awareness, and workplace substance abuse training since 1991. The RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Awareness Service (DOCAS) has been a consistent and substantial keystone player in our success and we share common values and goals committed to the promotion of Building Better Workplaces. DOCAS support our organization with operational resources and kindly make available to us their exceptional and substantial expertise on the multifaceted issue of drug abuse in our society. The BC Council on Substance Abuse is set around 4 pillars that we believe are essential in order to achieve workplaces that are safe, healthy, productive, and free from impairment by substance use:
The BC Council on Substance Abuse hosts an informative biennial conference that provides an excellent forum for communication and action between multiple agencies and industry. We welcome participation from all interested parties to contribute to this dynamic event to be held in 2012. |
